Beyond Space & Time

If only Wolfie expressed all of these things, because otherwise it just seemed like he was being blase. Especially blase about dancing with another woman in front of his ex - it didn't matter how old he was, that was a universally considered bad thing to do. The song had come to an end now and it looked like Atlas was trying to let go of Wolfie as another more energetic song played.

Well... Atlas regretted the whole thing now. Why was Wolfie always like this? Always so emotionally stunted and misreading the situation. She was saved from an awkward situation by a random dude sidling up to them. "If you're not gonna, I will," he said to Wolfie, taking Atlas' hand and pulling her away from him for a dance. She laughed and went along with it.

Atlas was aware of Wolfie watching her the whole time which made her quite uncomfortable, but she tried to ignore it and have fun with this random guy. He really wanted to sleep with her, it was obvious, but she wasn't feeling it at the moment so she just let loose.

Allura was easy enough to find, as she was nearby helping servers at a food stall. "Where's your friend?" she asked as she saw Wolfie alone.

"Still not a dancer?" Allura asked teasingly, handing him a dirty pot. "We need a cleaner, ours ran off to go have fun."

Wolfie's tone definitely shut the conversation down at that point, so Allura just smiled and went back to doing her work. A few hours had passed and things were quietening down. The children were going home with their parents, and the young adults were all going off to do whatever. Atlas had managed to shirk the one who'd been on her all night and was just wandering around, looking dreamily at everything. The mess after a party always had a certain something about it that Atlas couldn't put her finger on but loved. Not to mention, all the couples and families going home arm in arm was a lovely sight. Ahh...

Atlas and Allura may or may not have had a conversation, Wolfie might never know. All he knew was that Atlas wandered into his line of sight, and when she spotted him she smiled warmly. "What've you been up to?" she asked him.

Atlas nodded and then yawned. "Mm, yeah," she said, rubbing her eyes. "Been partying and eating and stuff. Kinda sleepy now, but... I wanna explore more. Are there any nice places around here?"

"We could," said Atlas. "But let's just walk for a bit, yeah? It's nice to take it slow sometimes." She linked arms with him and led him away from the now slumbering city, out into the suburbs and towards a place that looked more like countryside.

The further out they got, the quieter the world became, except for the chirping of otherworldly insects, bird-like, and frog-like creatures. They passed by a lake with a jetty, and all around were tiny creatures like fireflies. These ones were glowing pink instead of yellow though. "It's so pretty," cooed Atlas, letting go of Wolfie to walk out onto the jetty.

Atlas did a little twirl and looked back at Wolfie with a giggle. He looked... Nice, with all the pink light surrounding him. Did he always look so nice? Atlas wondered if she looked nice right now too. She looked down at the wooden planks at the end of the jetty and noticed there were some pillows there. "Oh look, we can sit down!" she said, tucking herself into a seated position and dangling her legs off the end, her toes not quite reaching the water. This was comfy.

"Yeah," Atlas agreed, looking dreamily around them. "Except when those butt humans kept ruining it all. Heh, where was the place you liked to visit?" she asked. He'd never mentioned a favourite spot on Earth before.
