“Rescue Operative Biomechanial Energized Response Technomanchine. Or R.O.B.E.R.T as we call them are the new line of highly advanced police androids created by Frost Incorpated. we have designed these police droids with highly sophisticated AI that can adapt and respond to any given situation. These droids are also fire resistant, water resistant, and have reaction speed higher than any supercomputer, making them capable of pulling off rescue operations without a hitch. And although its slow, they are capable of self repair!”

“Hmmm....have we tested them out in the field?”

“Yessir. I wont lie, we ran into some...complications during testing.”

“....explain.”

“Well we sent 3 of our androids on a field mission. Pretty simple, just taking down a drug cartel plane that was planning to smuggle large amounts of...”

“Get to the point.”

“Uh yes. Well we sent 3 bots....but only 1 survived the operation.”

“One? What happened to the other two?”

“Well it seems the cartel managed to smuggle a....grenade launcher onto the plane. We had not made the robots resistant to shrapnel fire, so from what we ascertained, one bot was blown apart and the second was caught up in the explosion. Then the remains were then sucked out of the...well hole the grenade launcher made.”

“Seems they cant react as fast as you thought.....So we werent able to recover any pieces?”

“The remaining robot managed to stay in tact and secure the goods. With a bit more tweaking I think we’ll be able to ship them out.”

“....hmm its a shame but I suppose its good news. How’s the testing with their compatibility with our other androids?”

“Very good sir. They could swap out pieces and integrate them into their system if the need arises.”

“Very good, get back to work.”

“Bzzz...ee-e-e-e-errr...or..protocol.....32.55....zzz..333..bzzt...3.1...Err-or.......sh-shut down.....r-r-r-r-eboooot....” The android laying in the haystack said as it shut down to fix its sensors. It seems that when its brother android was obliterated, it thought quickly and shielded itself from the blast. However, the explosion caused damage to its central processeor and it also knocked out its tracking device as it was suctioned out of the side of the plane. By some miracle, the android managed to land in a haystack in some unknown part of the countryside, far away from the big city and with barely any technology. Even in the year 2289, the whole world had not fully integrated technology into every part of the world. for now, the android powered down to preserve its power, unaware of the changes of the freak accident that had occurred..

The android buzzed back to life and as its systems began to reboot. It was...disconnected. From the mainfraime and its primary database at the HQ. It was in a state of...confusion? without access to the mainframe it had very limited knowledge of the outside world. So this strange creature that skidded it and the fluffy creatures were unknown to it. However the human with the blunt object was not. It was aware that it was indeed a human. “Human.” The android said. It couldnt move yet, it hadnt rebooted fully. It would normally not speak until all its systems were online but for some reason...it wasnt functioning correctly.

That strange feeling again...confusion? The Android thought it strange that the human did not know where they were. the android moved its head around, looking at its surroundings. Then it looked back at the human. “Designation:....unclear.” The android said. “Point of origin...Unclear. Unfamiliar surroundings.”

The android tilted its head to the side. “Language: Spanish. This unit is not equipped with the Spanish language.” The android said. Its programs had fully rebooted so it slowly sat up and looked at its hand, twisting it around to make sure it was functioning correctly.

The android checked its feet and then stood up. “This unit is able to stand.” The android said. It did a few squats to make sure its joints were functioning properly.

Hmm. The android had no idea what the human was doing, but based on the evidence, this fire had been caused by the unit. Its primary function, or at least from what it could recollect from its databanks, was to asssit humans. The android walked over and grabbed a massive amount of hay. “Allow this unit to assist.” The android said.

Want? The android was unfamiliar with that term. It observed the woman and all the unknown creatures. Then one of them made her stumble. The android quickly went over to her and bent down. “Do you acquire assistance from these creatures?” The android asked, outstretching its hand to her.

“Sheep.” The android said as it kept the memory in mind. It kind of liked this creature. Sheep. Liked? was that something in his programming? Something whirred in its head but then it was being snarled at by another creature. “Is this also sheep? It is not like these sheep.” The android said as it bent down to inspect “Moses”

“Access....terminated. This unit is unable to connect to the data base.” The android looked at Moses. “The dog, a border collie, seems to be agitated. Is it possible it is in pain?” The android asked.

“Oh. this unit understands. This unit is both of those things.” The android said. He then saw the human get on a cart that was drawn by another animal, and then start to leave. “Should this unit follow you?” The android asked her as she started to leave.

“Whatever....I want?” The android said. It had not been given that option before. It was having a hard time processing this statement. Did the unit have a want? It did not know....One thing seeemed to be going through its mind though. It wanted to know more about the creatures. Specifically the human. It also...”wanted” to know where it was. It was strange, its systems should not have been able to let free thought be processed but here it was doing it. It had a strange feeling as it slowly walked out the field and headed after the woman. It did not take long for it to catch up to her. “Location inquiry: where is this place?” The android asked her.

“Location name: Edge of Civlization. This unit is unfamiliar with that name.” The droid said as he ontinued following her. It looked like it was admiring all the plants and the environment, taking it in, and processing what it was seeing, which was odd for an android. Its systems were somehow functioning differently than intended and it was seeing the world outside of its original programming.

The android looked at the spot and then climbed up and sat beside her. It didnt say anything it was just watching her and what she was doing with the Moses.
